Cre8Ventures houses
start-up, Mirics Semiconductor,
at Fleet offices
Newbury, UK, August 1st, 2006
–
The Cre8Ventures
initiative of Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that it has
helped incubate start-up Mirics Semiconductor at its Fleet offices,
where Mirics has now headquartered their engineering and sales/marketing
teams. Mirics last week announced sampling of a ground-breaking RF tuner
product that was designed “right first time” using Mentor Graphics
tools.
Cre8Ventures was established to help electronic start-up
companies accelerate their ability to be successful. It aids start-ups
during early stage growth by providing top quality, commercial standard
office and lab space, and by removing some of the constraints of typical
commercial letting agreements.
“Moving into
the Cre8Ventures incubator office was a natural move,” says Simon
Atkinson, CEO, Mirics Semiconductors. “We have a long standing
partnership with Cre8Ventures and when the time came for us to
consolidate our activities onto a single site, Cre8Ventures was able to
provide the perfect environment but without overly constraining letting
terms. The office provided everything we needed to help us develop our
business to what it is today; it’s in a good location for customers, and
puts us closer to Cre8Ventures.”
Active support of start-up companies before they go
public is extremely important. Cre8Ventures is working with many
startups, all at different stages in their development. Cre8Ventures
has enjoyed a strong relationship with Mirics since the company’s
inception in early 2004. As a result, they were the first to benefit
from use of the Fleet offices.
“How we help start-ups varies according to their needs.
Typically, discussions and activity focuses on the route-to-tools,
route-to-funding, and route-to-market challenges,” said Carson Bradbury,
Director of Cre8Ventures. “But the initiative is constantly exploring
novel ideas to shorten start-ups’ run-way to revenue. Now that Mirics
has emerged from stealth-mode – already with sampling products -
we are extremely proud to share this news."

well positioned to gain an important first mover advantage in this
rapidly emerging market.
